Our Challenge, Fear or Opportunity - It's your Choice

What a time to be living. The news we get every day is unsettling and causes us to see the doom and gloom in our lives. Each step we take for granted is now measured. We can’t walk in the park or go to visit someone unless it’s essential. We are asking ourselves why is this happening, not just to me, but all over the world? Is there a greater reason than what we understand for this to be happening now? We must look above the uncertainty and the noise and clutter and go into the quiet depths of the soul and find our solace.
We were wonderfully made for a time such as this. For most of us, this is the first time in our lives we have experienced the freedom taken from us to just be you and interact with others. You and I want to be with our families, to hug them and show how much we love them on a day-to-day basis. All of this has suddenly been taken away and we are left empty. The very foundation of our belief system and sense of normalcy are gone. Many of us are left to fend for ourselves, learning for the first time what isolation really means.
If you have lost a loved one, for example, a husband or wife, you know what that means, you know the feeling of what isolation means. You know the things you used to do together are gone forever. They will never be the same. Some of us are even alone yet in the midst of other people.
This current pandemic is one that has never before happened in our nation. We can be surrounded by other people, but kept at a social or physically monitored distance. From the porch, people are allowed to wave or come within a regulated distance to be with us, because they are fearful of what we may catch. It is our choice to discern what is happening and to put it in proper perspective, making the best of a negative situation. It doesn’t help us to feed into the negative. We must make the choice to be positive, instead of grumbling about what has happened and why it stays the same day after day, who caused it, and who should be blamed.
This is a tremendous time when we can use our imagination and make things better now. We have to stop and realize we have time to do those things we wanted to do but said we didn’t have the time. Things you keep putting off, bring those priorities to the front and make things happen. Take them off of the back burner. We can accept this huge change in our lives and look at it as a challenge. In every challenge, there is an opportunity. Don’t get caught up in the midst of a cloud of fear. As former President Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. If you are out of a job or you have been downsized or furloughed, this may be a perfect time to learn how to start a home business. Make something from home, do something that will create income, pipeline income. Find the right fit for you. Take up a new hobby. During these days we are experiencing, don't just give up. Many people are online giving you the various opportunities to make money from home. Look for the details and see if the company fits you. There are many great opportunities for entrepreneurs, for leaders, for people looking for a good product, whether it's digital or physical. Ask Spirit what you can do that you’ve never done.
This is a great opportunity for you to shut off the television for certain times of the day and read, listen to audios that are uplifting or listen to music that is uplifting. Associate by phone, call people on your phone that you haven't talked to for a while or video chat. They are looking to hear your voice. Everybody is at home .We don't know how long this will last so we might as well realize that we can control some things but not all things. We want to abide by the laws in place for our protection, so we might as well use this time to become better humans. Take the time to write about happier times. Develop a gratitude list. Let’s face these challenges head on. Let them make us stronger. We will get through this victoriously. Become that amazing person that you were destined to become. It’s never too late unless you say it is. God is in ultimate control.
Make no mistake, the sun will come out again tomorrow and we will laugh again, and appreciate the friends that we miss, the family that we have not been able to touch. We will appreciate the places we miss like, the fellowship in our churches, dining out in our favorite restaurant, just walking in the park without a plan. Life will get back to normal and when it does, we will have already embraced a new sense of freedom and opportunity to live our lives in a better way. We will be better for what has happened in our world. In this world, there are no accidents. As we come out of this, realize our true purpose in life, which is to serve others, to pray for others. As we come out of this, help those who are less fortunate and find a way to blaze a new trail that has greater anticipation, knowing that you are stronger. Help those families with loved ones that didn't make it. Help those who have mental problems. Keep your mind active. Write your story, because we all have one since this experience is we never had one before. Never give up, keep pressing on. Now there is light at the end of the tunnel. From this journey, learn the lessons in each day along the way and share your stories with others. May the blessings be.
Keep this prayer with you: “Divine Providence, please guide me, provide for me, protect me and illuminate me in all my thoughts, words, actions and feelings, this day and every day. Amen.”
