Who and What are you listening to?
The new year has begun and we are involved in so many things that are different from what we have previously experienced. Perhaps we are getting over the Christmas season and all of the expenditures associated with it. We are also making New Year's resolutions to improve our overall well-being in the areas of our physical health, mental health, social health, financial health, and educational health. We realize that none of these can improve without the overall under-girding and direction of our spiritual life.
As we look back on 2016, we ask the following question: Did we do all that we could do within our power to make the previous year a momentous one filled with joy and gratitude for all that God has given us? Some of us had lofty goals to lose a tremendous amount of weight, others were determined to start a home-based business which would take them to a better level financially, breaking poverty’s hold. Maybe we set goals that exceeded our capability or some of us set goals that weren’t a challenge knowing we could accomplish them with ease. Some may not have set goals at all. Fear not, all is not lost.
Here we are in 2017 with the departure of Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States of America, who governed with dignity and hope for all, who was the first U.S. President of color in history. With the inauguration, and major protests around the world behind us, we have chosen a new 45th President of the United States by the name of Donald J. Trump. Many are ecstatic about his election but many are also fearful about what his election may mean to many people. We can either worry about this, or go about our lives as we do daily looking out for other people, being kind to one another, and by assisting other people regardless of color, creed, or nationality to a greater peaceful end. Helping our brothers and sisters in need is a wonderful solution. Reflect upon the broken goals of 2016 only for a short minute. If something did not work out after repeating it several times the same way, maybe it’s time to do something different or to take A New Path. We have to live our lives for ourselves looking for positive solutions, going deep within to the spirit that is within all of. If we have the inner spiritual directions correct then we don't have to worry about the outcome, because we have put on the whole armor of infinite intelligence that will enable us to handle any battle before us.
Let us ask ourselves - Who and What are we listening to? We must get away from the rat race and move into a higher plane of existence for the good of all. Squire Rushnell says, “We just need to accept that while life is often a mystery we each and everyone of us have a role in it as the mystery unfolds. We need to act on our dreams and be present to the appearance of the Divine in our day-to-day existence. That is our destiny.” We must align ourselves with like-minded people who share a common interest. The more we are open to interaction and the thoughts of others, the more we work with the independent spiritual mind that is within all of us. Many of you have heard of journaling, writing down things that come into your mind as inspiration that lead you down a path of success. Napoleon Hill, one of the great minds of our age, said it this way, “When the plan appears it will flash into your mind through the Sixth Sense in the form of an inspiration. This may be considered like a direct Telegram or message from God. Treat it with respect and act upon it as soon as you receive it. Failure to do this may be fatal to your success.”
During the next ninety days please reflect upon your new goals and make them become a reality by cutting off the television and other distractions. Share ideas and listen to people who have your best interest. Lastly, journal, by writing down your inspirational thoughts and conversations that make you a better human being in this world. We need each other to end so much divisiveness in our land. We need to come together, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty, truth, and justice and freedom for all.
