the finish line

We are in the last quarter of 2019, and many of us are stressed because we have not met the goals that we set for the year. The finish line is coming up and we are making last minute plans as to how to get there.
This year has been very interesting with its ups and downs. I have just celebrated my 79th birthday with tremendous gratitude and thankfulness. I am happy to have made it through another year. Many people in their later years often decide to take a break to slow down and to enjoy the rest of their lives. I am optimistic about the new year 2020 and what it holds for me, my family, friends and acquaintances, and for you. I look back on my life and see the things that I'm proud of in one hand, and see the things that I could have done better and that I’m not proud of in the other. Leaving the past behind, I am excited to enter the new challenges that face me and I am sure you will feel the same about your future with the proper positive mindset..
There is a song written by two friends of mine that is played every day on the “Think and Grow Rich Mastermind” call. It talks about moving forward, never giving up, never saying quit - it's not over until you say it's over. Some of you much younger look back on the years behind you and realize that you have just started the race, while others look back and realize all the many past years they have lived. When they look forward they realize they don't have as much time as they thought they had. There are many things they still wish to accomplish, other things they would like to do.
I was speaking to Rita, a good friend of mine the other day as we were talking about running a marathon race and how was it so important to at least get in the race regardless of where you are physically. You may not win in the race you’re in, but just start the race and look to cross the finish line. Here is the thing to remember - when you have the Finish Line in sight that is not the time to slow down, that's the time when most marathon runners crank up the speed, crank up the endurance, crank up all the energy they can muster, dig deep and go all in, and run those final laps. I feel like the marathon runner even though I'm in my 79th year and to many of you who may be in your golden years, this is not the time to sit down and wait for things to happen, we still have a chance to make things happen. Life is not over until you say that it's over. There's still a lot of life left. I want to leave you with this thought, there's a lot in this world to be conquered. There are many things that we could do that we haven't done. Life is so unpredictable and obstacles are always present. Try looking at obstacles in a more positive way because every obstacle that you have moved out of your way has gotten you closer to your purpose. You are eliminating things in your life that are keeping you from the goal, your life becomes more meaningful and more exciting. I believe that the closer we overcome the obstacles and the Goliaths in our lives we will come closer to our destiny, to what God intended for us to become realizing our main purpose in life. If we don't persist and do the things we need to do, we will never realize our true destiny. So welcome challenges, figure out a way to overcome them and keep moving forward to that unseen divine promise in your lives. What lies ahead that you don't know about maybe has not materialized for you to understand at this point. Just realize that the more you dream, the more you keep your vision, the more tenacity that you have in life, the sooner you'll reach your destiny. I heard this quote recently from a talented older singer on a music show and it's so true. “You’re never too young to dream and you’re never too old to have your dreams come true”. Keep this in mind as you enter the year 2020, give it all you’ve got you may be surprised at what life has in store for you. “I can see the Finish Line in sight and I am giving it all I've got to get there”. You can do the same.
May God Be with you,
